Disneyland is a busy place, between out of town vacationers and local Annual Passport holders, you’re gonna want a place to sit down and relax during your trip—enter Disneyland dining reservations.
Since beginning this website in 2013, I’ve been able to share my Disneyland tips with thousands of readers all over the world. One thing I’ve learned while touring Disneyland Resort professionally is how much a difference a sit down, table service restaurant can make in your day.
Lines for quick service dining can take upwards of 30 minutes or more during busy times of year. You’re really not paying much more by scheduling a sit down meal.
This article will detail when to make your reservation, how to make a dining reservation, and where to eat.
When To Make Disneyland Dining Reservations
Dining reservations open 60 days in advance. I suggest setting a reminder on your phone or calendar for that 60 day mark. Especially if you’re considering a character meal, reserved entertainment packages or other high-demand dining offers.
How To Make Disneyland Dining Reservations
You can make dining reservations one of three ways:
When timing is tight, I suggest calling first. They can give you all your available options over the phone without playing a guessing game online or through the mobile app.
Once you choose your desired location and time, select the party size, including all children (regardless if they will order off the menu or not). You may also input any dietary requests or special notes.
Should you need to cancel, most locations allow you to cancel up to 24 hours in advance, but check the policy when booking. More about canceling your Disneyland vacation here (sad, right?)
Where to Make Disneyland Dining Reservations
As I mentioned above, lines for quick service dining can take upwards of 30 minutes or more during busy times of year. Add that into the time searching for a table and you’re really not paying much more by scheduling a sit down meal.
I recommend doing a sit down meal at least once each day you’re in the parks and eating at off times for shorter waits when you want something fast.
Here’s where you can make dining reservations at Disneyland Park, California Adventure Park, Downtown Disney and Disneyland Resort Hotels.
Disneyland Park Dining Reservations
Blue Bayou is the most notable Disneyland Park restaurant (besides, the highly sought after Club 33 of course) tucked away inside Pirates of the Caribbean. You want to eat here, even if it’s not for the food.
Guests dining at Blue Bayou can expect a Louisiana inspired menu including Jambalaya, Monte Cristo with Louisiana Lemonade or Mint Juleps to drink.
Blue Bayou is also the host to entertainment dining packages for parades like Main Street Electrical Parade and we expect Fantasmic dining options to open later this summer.
Cafe Orleans transports guests to the Big Easy with displays from Princess and the Frog inside and lovely patio dining under blue umbrellas outside. The famous Monte Cristo and pommes frites are served here.
Carnation Cafe located on Main Street, U.S.A. is an iconic classic. Reservations are available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You’ll love dining under the red and white umbrellas on Main Street.
Plaza Inn reservations are only available for breakfast character dining. Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park is a buffet breakfast with omelets and Mickey waffles, pastries cereals and more. Plus you’ll meet Minnie Mouse and other beloved Disney characters while you dine. Get discount character dining vouchers which include tip and gratuity from our partners Get Away Today. Select Disneyland and scroll down for character dining.
River Belle Terrace features American home cooking with a riverfront view. Enjoy sandwiches, salads and barbecue favorites at this cozy retreat.
California Adventure Park Dining Reservations
California Adventure has some unique table service options which, unlike Disneyland Park, do not require a reservation. Those options will be noted below in a separate section. For all others, I recommend making reservations at the 60 day window mark for the best availability.
Ariel’s Grotto reservations are available for character dining during breakfast and lunch. You’ll meet Ariel and other beloved Disney princesses while you’re served. For dinner, make reservations for World of Color dining package with a prix fixe meal and reserved seating for World of Color. Closed January 8, 2018.
Carthay Circle Restaurant is a classic and contemporary fusion of Hollywood’s Golden Age. Also home to World of Color and Frozen dining packages.
Wine Country Trattoria experience the finest of Napa Valley and Tuscan flavors at this Pacific Wharf restaurant. Also available for World of Color dining packages with reserved show seating.
California Adventure Table Service – No Reservations Needed
Alfresco Tasting Terrace- wine and Italian appetizers located in Pacific Wharf, overlooking Radiator Springs.
Carthay Circle Lounge- cocktails, craft beefs, wines and bar snacks on Buena Vista Street.
Mendocino Terrace Win Tasting- wines and cheeses in Pacific Wharf.
Downtown Disney Dining Reservations
Downtown Disney reservations aren’t in as high demand as dining reservations inside the parks, so you can often secure one last minute. If not, most of these restaurants also have a quick-service counter part connected to the sit down side. See our Downtown Disney Dining Guide for more details on quick eat options.
Catal Restaurant serves American and Mediterranean dishes in an elegant atmosphere. Read my detailed Catal review here.

While there are tons of places to dine and explore, there are limited places inside each park. If you’re visiting Disneyland Resort over several days, I recommend reserving dining inside and outside the parks. After all, Downtown Disney is just a quick monorail ride or walk over. Plus, the vibe there is so relaxing when compared to the hustle inside the parks.
