Storytellers Café is one of the Disneyland Resort dining spots that only offers character dining, much like Goofy’s Kitchen. Tucked inside Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, it’s just steps away from the parks but feels like a cozy retreat worlds away.
This article was originally published in 2018 but gets regular updates to keep things fresh for your vacation.
This is where delicious California-inspired flavors meet rustic lodge charm, infused with Disney characters (and character!). Whether you’re coming for Mickey-shaped waffles at breakfast, a buffet-style family dinner with Donald, or the lively Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Character Breakfast, Storytellers Café makes dining feel both comfortable and special.
Before you book, here’s everything you need to know about reservations, atmosphere, menu highlights, and insider tips for enjoying Storytellers Café at Disneyland Resort.

Reservations and Location
The best way to guarantee you’ll get to eat at Storytellers Cafe for character dining is to secure dining reservations. You can set dining alerts and make your Storytellers dining reservation here.
Usually they do not accept walk up reservations, but you can check the Disneyland App on the day of your visit to see if you can be added to the walk-up list. If you’re hoping to book a large party, I suggest breaking up your large party into two separate reservations, under two different Disney accounts. There are lots of booths and tables and they can often sit you close to one another, if not at the same table.
You’ll find Storytellers Café just off the lobby inside Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. The best part? You don’t need a park ticket to dine here, which makes it a smart option if you’re arriving at Disneyland the night before your park days, or want a Disney character farewell on the day you depart.

The Storytellers Café menu blends California comfort food with Disney magic. Depending on the time of day, you’ll find everything from Mickey-shaped waffles to creamy pastas and bite-sized desserts. Here’s a closer look.

Lunch & Dinner Options
- Creamy Shell Pasta – Comfort food perfection, one of my personal favorites.

With so many character dining choices at one location—this spot is busy year-round! I hope you get to try this or other character dining while you’re at Disneyland Resort.
