I’ve met Santa at several Disneyland Resort locations over the years, and each experience is a little different. Some are best for families with theme park tickets, while the Disneyland Resort Hotels give you options outside the parks.
Below I’ll show you exactly where to find Santa, what each location is like and my tips for choosing the best Disneyland Santa experience for your family.

My Tip: If you already have park tickets, I especially like the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail location because the setting feels festive and immersive. If you want a Santa visit without entering the parks, the Disneyland Resort Hotels are the better choice.

Meet Santa at Disneyland Park
In 2026, Santa Claus meets guests at Mickey’s Toontown Trolley Barn inside Disneyland Park from November 13 through December 24.

This is the best Santa option if Disneyland Park is already part of your day. You’ll need valid Disneyland admission and a park reservation for the same date to access this meet and greet.
How to get there: Head to Mickey’s Toontown at the back of Disneyland Park. You can walk through Fantasyland, towards “it’s a small world” Holiday or take the Disneyland Railroad and get off at the Mickey’s Toontown station.
Line Forms: Look out for where the line forms toward the right had side of Mickey’s Toontown, near Roger Rabbit’s Cartoon Spin. You might even be able to have one adult stand in line and the other adult take kids to play nearby or do a quick ride on Chip ‘n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster or Roger Rabbit.
There’s a lot to do and see in this area of Disneyland, making it ideal for little ones to explore nearby play areas and have fun before and after meeting Santa Claus. After December 24th, you can expect to meet Goofy Santa here for the rest of the holiday season.

Meet Santa at Disney California Adventure
Disney California Adventure is one of my favorite places to meet Santa Claus because the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail creates such a fun, woodsy Christmas setting. It feels more like a full holiday experience. The line here does tend to get long, so keep an eye on times in the app and arrive early.

For the 2026 holiday season, Santa returns to Redwood Creek Challenge Trail beginning November 13. You’ll find him close to the entrance of the trail and signs clearly mark the area.
How to get there: From Buena Vista Street, head right into Grizzly Peak and follow the pathway, past Soarin’ to Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.
When you enter Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, pick up the activity map and explore the area before or after meeting Santa. Kids can search for brightly colored presents along the trail and work through the holiday puzzle while enjoying the outdoor play areas.
When you get in line to visit Santa Claus, grab a map of the area so your little ones can decide what other activities they’d like to do after their meet and greet. The map is also a fun way to keep them engaged and entertained while waiting.
After getting your map and securing your spot in line, make sure to sign your name on the nice list!
You’ll then make your way to greet Santa Claus! I met up with one of my high school besties and her boys to meet Santa Claus. Can you tell which one was a little unsure of meeting Santa? It’s great that this bench can fit many people so little ones can be comfortable.

Meet Santa at the Disneyland Resort Hotels
You don’t need a theme park ticket to find Santa at Disneyland Resort. During the 2026 holiday season, Santa is scheduled to appear at all three Disneyland Resort Hotels, making these some of the easiest options if you want a festive Santa photo outside the parks.
I’ve visited Santa at each of the Disneyland Resort Hotels over the years, and every location has a different feel. These are especially good options if you’re staying nearby, visiting Downtown Disney or simply want to enjoy some of the holiday atmosphere without using a park day.

Santa at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
The Grand Californian is my pick if you want the most traditional Christmas atmosphere. Santa meets guests in the Great Hall, where the Craftsman-style lobby and massive Christmas tree make a beautiful backdrop for holiday photos.
Santa at Disneyland Hotel
The Disneyland Hotel has a more classic Disney feel. Santa meets guests in the main lobby, making this an easy stop if you’re visiting the hotel restaurants or walking between Downtown Disney and the resort area.
Santa at Pixar Place Hotel
Pixar Place Hotel offers a brighter, more playful setting for Santa. I’ve especially loved the holiday décor here, and in recent years this has become one of my favorite Disneyland Resort Santa locations.
My tip: If you don’t have park tickets—or simply don’t want to spend valuable park time waiting to meet Santa—the resort hotel locations are worth considering. You can combine your Santa visit with a walk through the decorated hotel lobbies and Downtown Disney.
Tips for Meeting Santa at Disneyland
Meeting Santa at Disneyland can be one of the most magical parts of a holiday trip, but a little planning helps.
- Check appearance times the day of your visit. Santa’s schedule can change, so confirm current times in the Disneyland app or at the specific location before you head over.
- Go earlier in the day when possible. Santa lines can build as the day goes on, especially on weekends and closer to Christmas.
- Choose your location based on your plans. If you’re already spending the day in a theme park, use the Santa location inside that park. If you want to save park time, consider one of the Disneyland Resort Hotel locations instead.
- Bring your own phone or camera. Photo options can vary by location, so I always like having my phone ready even when a PhotoPass photographer is nearby.
- Give younger kids a little extra time. Some kids are excited to see Santa right away, while others need a minute to warm up. The more immersive locations, especially Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, can make the experience feel less rushed.
- Don’t wait until December 24 if meeting Santa is a must-do. Santa’s official Disneyland Resort appearances run through Christmas Eve.
My Tip: If meeting Santa is high on your holiday wish list, choose your preferred location before your trip and check that location’s schedule first thing on the day you visit.
