Inside Disneyland’s Pixar Place Hotel

Take a look inside Disneyland’s Pixar Place Hotel—I’ve already stayed there ahead of the opening January 30, 2024.

This review includes my opinion on the new rooms, look and feel of Pixar Place Hotel. I paid for my own stay in December 2023 and stayed in a new room. While some are open, there is still construction and guests will be assigned new rooms at random during the pre-opening. Disneyland Pixar Place Hotel

The Disneyland Pixar Place Hotel, an in-depth review and deals for your Disneyland Resort vacation. My most recent stay at Pixar Place Hotel was December 2023 in the new rooms.

The Disneyland Pixar Place Hotel is one of three Disney owned hotels at Disneyland Resort. This hotel is currently undergoing a re-theme while in operation and when it opens will be the only fully Pixar-themed hotel in the country! And let me tell you, it is one you won’t want to miss. Pixar Place is going to be real competition for The Disneyland Hotel and Grand Californian.

If you’re staying during construction, your stay includes a bit of paradise, beach vibes with the fun of Pixar mixed in. Those who are looking to stay after the retheme will feel like they stepped into a Pixar art gallery with nods to favorite Pixar characters like Woody, Mike Wazowski, Miguel and more.

Here’s everything you need to know about Disney’s Pixar Place Hotel, along with details you won’t want to miss.

Disney’s Pixar Place Hotel Quick Details

There are a total of three Disney owned hotels at Disneyland Resort with Pixar Place Hotel as the most affordable option. Disney’s Pixar Place Hotel has a long history in Anaheim and was purchased by Disney in 1995. In 2024 it officially transforms from Paradise Pier Hotel to Pixar Place Hotel.

Pixar Place Hotel has 481 rooms in a 15 story high-rise structure. Select rooms overlook California Adventure park, giving select guest rooms a view of the night-time show, World of Color.

Pixar Place Hotel also hosts a rooftop pool, 186 foot high waterslide and children’s wading are with an adorable Finding Nemo splash zone.

Disneyland Pixar Place Hotel Lobby

Check in at Pixar Place Hotel is easy-breezy when compared to other Disneyland Resort hotels, simply because the pull-up area to bring luggage in is only steps away from the front desk. You can also begin the check in process on the Disneyland app.

The convenience factor when you’re pulling up with a car full of kids and luggage is certainly worth considering. And now that there’s plenty of Pixar to jump into right as you arrive, everyone will feel surrounded in the magic from the very first step.

As you arrive to check in at the Pixar Place tower, many new Pixar photo opportunities await and each floor is hosted by a different Pixar franchise. Disney Pixar Place Hotel Parking

When staying at Disneyland’s Pixar Place Hotel, don’t forget to add in the $40 nightly fee for self-parking, with valet service at $70 per night, per vehicle.

Pixar Place parking deal: I look out for deals whenever I can, so if it’s stating the obvious then here it goes. Use self-parking and save $30 each night over valet. You can see park of self parking next to the pool area here.

Make it even more convenient by dropping off your party and luggage at the main entrance first. Disney’s Pixar Place Hotel room descriptions

We were completely surprised by the magic and detail in these Pixar Place rooms. The colorful guest space is full of nods to the iconic animation studio, Pixar. The headboards which are often a focal point in many Disney hotels, displays concept art from a variety of Pixar favorites like “The Incredibles” and “Toy Story 3”.

Be sure to take a close look and notice how the art is displayed from warm to cool colors, setting the scene for not only delightful animation but a cozy night’s sleep.

I also loved the Pixar details in the bedding and rug below. The rooms now also sleep five on a comfortable couch style single bed. I love the tweed fabrics they chose for the couch and desk chair as it fits the Pixar theme so well.

Pixar Place Standard View room has views of Disneyland Drive, rooftop or parking area. On past stays I have booked a standard view room and had an awesome view overlooking the pool. It was a little louder than expected with people having fun at the pool, but it hardly bothered me.

Available in two configurations sleeping up to 5 people. 2 Queens and 1 Day bed or 1 King and and 1 Queen sleeper sofa. I would not sleep 5 adults here, but a family with 2 adults and 2-3 small kids could work.

Pixar Place Premium View room  offers views Disney California Adventure, sleeps up to 5 people with 2 Queens and 1 Day bed. Again, I would not sleep 5 adults here, but a family with 2 adults and 2-3 kids would work. This room type view is featured in the photo below.

We even watched World of Color here on our first night. It was completely magical and you can play the soundtrack on your TV! If you’re checking in on a non-park day, consider upgrading to this World of Color view room!

Pixar Place Hotel World of Color View

This is a non-zoomed photo of our view. How amazing is that? Then you can fall asleep to the lights of California Adventure each night. Or close the curtains nice and tight and have near blackout sleep conditions. I love that for a good nights rest.

Pixar Place bathroom

Each room has one bathroom with sliding door (with lock) access. The bathrooms have a shower only so be aware of that if a bathtub is a must (Disneyland Hotel rooms have bathtubs).

Disneyland Pixar Place Hotel Club Level

Club-level service is a step above, and many people give rave reviews of Club Level service and amenities at Pixar Place Hotel. Just be careful, you may never want to go back to regular reservations again ;). Club-level rooms offer the following amenities during your stay:

  • Exclusive access to the Concierge Lounge on the 2nd floor
  • Continental breakfast in the morning
  • Mid day snacks available
  • Wine and cheese, dessert reception each evening
  • Personal assistance from the Concierge Staff

This pool is another reason I suggest extending your visit so you can spend some down time here. You will have access to the pool on check in and check out day as well. There’s tons of seating space for dining, lounging or visiting with your group.

In addition to the pool, a family play court offers activities inspired by Pixar’s famous short films.

  • Burrow

Pixar Place Hotel fireworks

I love the added details of the firepits with Pixar characters like Anger from Inside Out. And yes, we also had fireworks views with the musical soundtrack playing. There’s lots of space to spread out for fireworks viewing up here.

Great Maple’s culinary creativity will abound throughout the hotel, offering food and beverage service at the pool, as well as a new grab ‘n’ go coffee shop and café near the lobby, and eventually at the hotel’s new concierge lounge.

Pixar Place Hotel shop STOR E

Don’t forget about shopping! The cute little shop on the ground floor is named after the Pixar film “WALL-E”: STOR-E which features Pixar-themed apparel and toys, plus more Disneyland Resort souvenirs and sundries.

Disney Pixar Place Hotel Reviews

My final thoughts on Pixar Place Hotel: We finally have a contender here! What I mean is now there is a 3rd Disney hotel that really ups the game and makes a decision on where to stay a little bit harder. Being there makes me want to add Pixar Place into my summer family vacation rotation. It’s a wonderful hotel for Pixar fans, young and young at heart.

It worked out great for us especially as a family of 5, we really liked the small sofa bed that turned into a twin/toddler bed. It was a short walk to Galaxy’s Edge early in the morning. -Jen B.

We have stayed at all three Disney hotels and Paradise Pier is our favorite. The staff are always phenomenal and we have had pixie dust experiences with them in the past. I feel like the rooms are more spacious and we really like having the couch AND the table and chair in the room.

We’ve always been lucky to stay in the premium view rooms and have enjoyed seeing World of Color from our window, well at least the back of it, with the music playing on our TV. We like the pool though it is not as cool as the Disneyland hHotel pool, not even close. We have toddlers so the toddler pool and water slide at Paradise Pier are fine for us for now. The drinks at the bar near the pool are YUM.

Pixar Place room

Recently we have been splurging and getting Club Level which I highly recommend. Access to snacks and drinks before going to park and during pool or room breaks was incredibly convenient. There is a happy hour between 5-7pm with complimentary beer and wine which after a day with our toddlers was a god send. They also have hot appetizers during this time along with the snacks and treats they normally have. Coffee and espresso makers for your breakfast and hard boiled eggs, cereal, and fruit too. We kind of regret doing club level only because now we are snobby and don’t want to stay at a disney hotel without it. Cheaper hotels will have free breakfast but for us staying on a disney property matters

It is a far walk to the parks BUT our normal routine is to walk over to the Downtown Disney monorail station and roll into Tomorrowland to start our day. We typically go to California Adventure at midday and are able to walk out through the Grand to get back to Paradise Pier. -Veronica V.

Yes it can be pricey, but I believe you get what you pay for. My daughters felt like royalty and it kept the Disney Magic going. -Donni D. Paradise Pier Hotel Mickey water

Thought it was great but felt a little outdated and like a value hotel. We did the character breakfast which was amazing!! BUT on that food note, we ordered from the lounge for dinner and went down to pick it up, waited over an hour, and it was not good at all. Complimentary water and fruit water near the elevators was nice, filled up my kids cups several times.

The walk to security was nice it felt like it went faster than the one on Harbor, then took the Monorail into Disneyland. When I did Extra Magic Hour into California Adventure, that was such a long walk to get through Downtown Disney on top of getting to the security—I’m not sure I would recommend it for that perk. The hotel was comfortable and clean, and loved the 24/7 Mickey cartoons. We had a view to World of Color but wish I was up close to be able to see all of the projections. Overall I would do it again but prefer the Disneyland Hotel over Paradise Pier. -Hollie R.

My sister and I stayed with our 5 and 6 year old boys last month. We had a premium view and access to the club lounge for 5 nights. I have never had such a wonderful experience before. There was always someone in the lobby with a cold drink waiting when we came back from a long afternoon in the parks. They brought complimentary ginger ale and crackers to our room after my son got sick in the parks, and they even remebered to ask him how how he was feeling in the lobby the next day. The staff is amazing and went above and beyond to make our stay magical during our stay. They did such a great job of continuing the magic for us that we felt like we never even left the parks. Paradise Pier will be my go to for all future Disneyland vacations. -Tiffanie C.

We had a terrible experience there. The sink in our room was clogged so they sent a handyman in and long story short the night ended with them drilling a hole in our bathroom wall while our twins cried from their cribs and people walking past our open door and staring at us. Also the elevator situation is rough! There are only elevators on one side of the hotel. Anyone who needs to use the elevator (ie wheelchairs and strollers) has to wait while the entire hotel leaves at the same time to use their Extra Magic Hour. We missed 30 minutes of ours trying to get out of the hotel. -Rachel A.

We stayed there for one night during Easter week (the week prior to Easter). It was such a wonderful experience for our family of 5. We had so many magical moments that made all of us feel so special. When we waited in line to check in an employee came by with balloons for each of my kids. They even got them each their favorite colors. Another staff member came by with a strawberry lemonade in cups for everyone.

When we got up to check in they saw we were celebrating my son’s birthday. They said in honor of his birthday they gave us free parking. It may seem so small but for us it made a huge difference! As she was getting us checked in she said “now let’s get you a magical view.” Well we get to our room with a park view and got to see World of Color from our hotel. We couldn’t help but feel so special and loved.

The elevators were different but we loved knowing which elevator to line up in front of. I wish more places did that. It helped not having to run to whichever door opened. We checked out the pools after we checked in and loved it. I have 3 small kids (8,6 and 2) we had a great time. I loved that they provided a swim diaper for my 2 year old at no extra charge. They also had life jackets for all 3 of my kids to use. My husband and I took turns in the small 1 ft. deep pool with our 2 year old and 6 year old and going on the water slide with our 8 year old.

They had so much fun they didn’t want to leave the pool area. After dinner we returned to our hotel we watched the fireworks from the fireworks watching deck. We loved seeing the fireworks and hearing the music for it. Our view of the fireworks was better at the hotel then from our Fantasmic seats at the River Belle. At our hotel room we were able to watch World of Color from our room while listening to the soundtrack on our TV.

My kids loved getting a call from Mickey Mouse in the morning to wake them up. We had reservations for the character dining at PCH Grill and had a wonderful time there. We had such a great experience that we were running a bit behind for our Bibbidi Boppidi Boutique reservations and the hotel staff said they would call over there and let them know. It was such a great relief for us. If we could we would stay there longer. We loved every minute of our stay there and look forward to returning. -Barbara T.
