Disneyland in August is still hot—and new in 2024, Halloween Time arrives earlier than ever.

This article covers important calendar events and closures in August, how these events might affect crowds levels, dressing for the Anaheim weather in August and discount tickets available for this month.
Disneyland in August Calendar of Events
It’s the season when summer and Halloween collides and everyone wants to get to Disneyland before school starts, or right after for lower crowds. There’s plenty of things to do and see this season I’m here to share how to navigate all the fun you’re about to have at Disneyland.
Disneyland in August Hours:
- Disneyland Park opens at 8:00 am or 9:00 am and closes at 11:00 pm midnight.
- California Adventure Park opens at 8:00 am or 9:00 am and closes at 9:00 pm or 10:00 pm.
- Park hopping begins at 11:00 am for those with valid tickets and reservations.

Disneyland August Crowd Levels
Crowds are a common concern for Disneyland guests—it’s tricky to navigate finding the best days with longer park hours, more open rides, a full entertainment schedule and low crowds.

If you’re super concerned about crowds I suggest you skip:
- The last few days of Pixar Fest
- The first few days of Halloween Time (end of August)
- Days surrounding D23 Fan Event, especially Disneyland D23 day
We might see lower crowds on these dates:
Anything is possible, and when it comes to crowds it’s highly likely that even our best time guesses could miss the mark. However, I think these dates might be a good choice.
- Right after Pixar Fest wraps up
- Just before Halloween Time kicks off
Add this info to any Disneyland crowd calendars you might see (they’re not my favorite) and plan accordingly.
Disneyland in August is indeed summer weather and you’ll love relaxing by the pool. Most hotels here in Anaheim have heated pools that are open year-round. But if you need the warmer weather to start your tan, I suggest a stay and a full day at The Disneyland Hotel pool.
I also love the new improved pool and deck area at Pixar Place Hotel.
Dressing for August Weather
You usually don’t need layers in August because it heats up quickly. One thing you will want to pack is extra underwear, socks and anything you might sweat through. It’s nice to have a fresh change during the day or just at night after a cool shower.
This summer season I am loving all the tennis skirts and running short that have built in bike shorts under, they’re super trendy and comfy for the parks, as are any type of sundress. You’d be amazed how comfortable that is!

August Disneyland Discounts
2024 is the year for Disneyland discounts—Disney wants you to come for a vacation so there are a few options and discounts to help you visit Disneyland cheaper!
New Disneyland Summer Ticket Deal, what used to be reserved for only California Residents is getting an expansion!
