Hello! My family and I are going to Disneyland at Christmastime when crowd levels are 9-10. You mentioned “Remember to stay in the park on super crowded days or be prepared not to be let back in, even with a valid ticket.” We will be staying at the GCH and was planning on taking advantage of the hotel by going back and forth from the park at least 2-3 times during the day. Should I change my plans? Is there anyway to ensure re-entry? Thank you!

    • Thanks for writing in. This is a very concerning issue and while I have no exact answer, I can point you to several facts about capacity closures. 1. Disneyland park closed to any new guests at 1:15 pm on Christmas day in 2015. Guests that had already been in the park that morning and left were admitted back in. Disneyland park reopened to new guests at 2:45 pm and remained open. California Adventure did not close at all that day. 2. Christmas day in 2014, Disneyland park closed to new entries at 11:00 am. It is not clear if returning guests were admitted.

While I can’t guarantee you will be let back in, the best advice I can give is to start your day in Disneyland park on Christmas day and any other day you’re set on spending time at Disneyland. For Christmas day I also recommend booking a dining reservation for late in the evening. On capacity days, Cast Members were more likely to let in guests who have a dining reservation.

Also, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to re-enter. Security lines and admittance lines will be long, especially if they close the gates— it will be a struggle to get to the right point to even talk to the right person. Getting into California Adventure shouldn’t be a problem. Another thing to note it is this is the first holiday season Disneyland has had demand-based pricing for tickets. Their hope is it keeps crowds lower. While I’m skeptical of this (I think people will spend any amount to go to Disneyland on Christmas day), time will tell!

Kuddos to you for being prepared. Enjoy your time and be patient, it truly is the key during capacity days at Disneyland.
