Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure is where Disneyland recruits the next generation of Super Heroes. And you don’t need to be a Marvel expert to enjoy it.
This area of Disney California Adventure combines Marvel attractions, character encounters, themed food, superhero-sized action and some fantastic storytelling. 
Disney is expanding the land with two new attractions: Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab. Both are scheduled to open in 2028, doubling the size of Avengers Campus!
I’ve been following Avengers Campus since it was announced, and this guide will help you decide what is worth your time during a Disneyland vacation now—and what you’ll have to wait for.

Avengers Campus Is Getting Twice as Big
Avengers Campus opened in 2021, but the land you’re visiting today is only part of the story.
Disney is currently expanding Avengers Campus with two major new attractions that will double the size of the land: Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab.
Planning a 2026 or 2027 trip? Don’t build your vacation around these new attractions. They aren’t open yet. You can still have a full Avengers Campus experience with the attractions, characters, food and shopping available now.
But if you’re planning a 2028 or later Disneyland trip, Avengers Campus is going to look very different!
What’s New at Avengers Campus in 2026?
The biggest Avengers Campus news right now isn’t a new attraction you can ride today. It’s what’s being built for the future.
Disney recently shared new details about both 2028 attractions, including their stories, ride systems and the Marvel actors who will reprise their roles.
Avengers Campus Rides
There are currently two operating attractions in Avengers Campus, with two more major attractions planned for 2028.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!
This is my favorite ride in all of the Disneyland Resort for thrills.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! takes over the former Tower of Terror space and turns the entire experience into a chaotic rescue mission with Rocket.
If you love thrills and good music, you’re going to love this ride! The combination of the soundtrack, storytelling and unpredictable drops makes it one of the attractions I recommend for anyone who enjoys thrill rides.
What to Know:
- Minimum height: 42 inches
- Fast-paced drop attraction
- Mostly indoor queue, outdoor extended queue when busy
- Six possible retro pop songs, one plays at random
- Lightning Lane Multi Pass is available
And yes, the soundtrack really is part of the attraction. You never know which of the six songs you’ll get. And don’t forget to grab your ride photo at the exit.
WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure
WEB SLINGERS is a completely different kind of attraction from Guardians of the Galaxy, or any ride in California Adventure.
Instead of being a traditional thrill ride, you’re recruited to help Peter Parker deal with Spider-Bots that have escaped inside the Worldwide Engineering Brigade.
The attraction uses motion-tracking technology to let you physically sling webs with your hands. It sounds simple, but it becomes surprisingly competitive when everyone in your vehicle starts comparing scores.
It’s also a great option for families because there is no minimum height requirement.
What to know:
- Any height can ride
- Interactive attraction
- You physically make web-slinging motions with your arms
- Four guests sit across in the vehicle
- Lightning Lane Multi Pass is available
- Single Rider is available
My arms were so tired after my first ride that I decided to see how many Spider-Bots I could catch by doing the Macarena. It was a good time. 
Opening 2028
Avengers Infinity Defense
Avengers Infinity Defense is scheduled to open in 2028 as part of the expansion that will double the size of Avengers Campus. You’ll be welcomed as a new recruit, beginning with a pre-mission briefing from Ms. Marvel, played by Iman Vellani.
Your mission? Reassemble the Avengers and stop King Thanos from wreaking havoc across multiple worlds.
Disney says the attraction will take guests to locations including Asgard, Wakanda and New York City, combining massive physical sets with huge media scenes to put recruits directly into the action.
Disney has also announced that several on-screen heroes will reprise their roles for the attraction.
On-screen heroes returning for Avengers Infinity Defense:
- Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye
- Anthony Mackie as Captain America
- Chris Hemsworth as Thor
- Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man
And yes, Disney has teased that recruits will come face-to-face with King Thanos.
My Thoughts:
We’re still a couple of years away from actually riding Avengers Infinity Defense, so I’m not ready to tell you whether it will live up to the hype. But the combination of physical sets, giant media scenes and multiple Marvel worlds makes this one of the Disneyland attractions I’m super excited to experience.
Opening 2028
Stark Flight Lab
If Avengers Infinity Defense is about joining the Avengers on a mission, Stark Flight Lab is about training like one. The attraction is being developed inside Tony Stark’s workshop and uses a very different ride system.
Guests will sit in two-person gyro-kinetic pods. The pod rolls along a track before stopping in front of a giant robotic arm. The arm then takes over, moving the pod through a simulated flight experience.
This will be full of feature high-speed maneuvers inspired by Iron Man and more, essentially giving you the chance to experience what it might feel like to train like a flying Avenger.
On-screen heroes returning for Stark Flight Lab:
- Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man
- Anthony Mackie as Captain America
- Brie Larson as Captain Marvel
Robert Downey Jr. returning as Tony Stark is especially notable because Stark himself will be part of the attraction experience.
My Thoughts:
This is going to be one wild ride! We’ve had simulator-style attractions at Disney before, but this looks like an intense thrill ride for only the bravest recruits.
Who Can You Meet at Avengers Campus?
One of my favorite things about Avengers Campus is that the characters aren’t simply standing around waiting for a traditional meet-and-greet.
The land is designed to feel like an active Super Hero training facility, so you may encounter heroes in the middle of their missions.
Depending on the day, you may encounter characters including:
- Spider-Man
- Captain America
- Black Panther
- Black Widow
- Captain Marvel
- Thor
- Doctor Strange
- Ant-Man
- The Wasp
- Guardians of the Galaxy characters
Character appearances can change, so don’t build your entire day around seeing one particular hero. Check the Disneyland app for current entertainment and character information.
And be sure to keep an eye on what’s happening around the building because the Avengers can spring into action.
Avengers Campus Food
If your family needs a break from the action, Avengers Campus has some of the most themed food at Disney California Adventure.
Pym Test Kitchen
Pym Test Kitchen is built around the idea that Ant-Man and The Wasp have figured out how to manipulate the size of food.
That means oversized and undersized food, unusual presentations and plenty of opportunities for something that looks completely ridiculous in the best possible way.
Pym Tasting Lab
Next door, Pym Tasting Lab continues the food-and-science theme with drinks and experimental creations.
Shawarma Palace
This is the place to go when you’re ready to join the Avengers’ shawarma tradition.
Terran Treats
Terran Treats is the colorful snack stop inspired by the Guardians of the Galaxy. I recommend checking the current Disneyland app menu before your visit because food offerings can change seasonally.
Avengers Campus Shopping
WEB Suppliers
This is where you’ll find Worldwide Engineering Brigade gear, including the opportunity to build your own Spider-Bot.
Avengers Vault
Avengers Vault features Avengers merchandise and artifacts collected from different worlds, including superhero gear inspired by characters from the Marvel universe.
Campus Supply Pod
For more traditional Avengers Campus merchandise, the Campus Supply Pod offers apparel, hats and other superhero gear.
How Do You Get to Avengers Campus?
Avengers Campus is located inside Disney California Adventure, between Hollywood Land and Cars Land. You can also enter via the walkway between Cars Land and Avengers Campus.
Your regular admission to Disney California Adventure includes access to Avengers Campus. You do not need a separate ticket just to enter the land.
My Avengers Campus Tips
Still visit, even if you’re not a huge Marvel fan
You don’t have to know every Marvel movie to enjoy Avengers Campus.
Guardians of the Galaxy is a fantastic thrill ride, WEB SLINGERS works well for families, and the land itself is fun to walk through.
Watch for character action
Don’t just walk through the land looking for a traditional meet-and-greet. Watch what is happening around you.
The whole point of Avengers Campus is that the heroes are supposed to be actively protecting the area.
Think about your child’s height before planning
WEB SLINGERS has no minimum height requirement, while Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! requires riders to be at least 42 inches tall.
That makes the two current attractions very different choices for families.
Use mobile order when available
If you’re eating at Pym Test Kitchen or another nearby location, check the Disneyland app before walking up to order. Mobile order is super easy and can save you time.
Don’t plan around the 2028 attractions yet
If you’re visiting Disneyland in 2026 or 2027, Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab aren’t attractions you can experience yet. Enjoy what’s operating now and treat the expansion as something to look forward to on a future trip.
Is Avengers Campus Worth Visiting?
Yes—especially if your family likes Marvel, thrill rides or immersive lands. But I wouldn’t say you need to spend half a day here.
For many families, I would plan around:
- WEB SLINGERS
- Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!
- Character encounters
- A meal or snack
- A little time to explore the land
If you’re a serious Marvel fan, you’ll probably want more time to explore the details, merchandise and characters.

For now, though, you don’t need to wait for the expansion to enjoy Avengers Campus.
