New Disney Avengers Campus land coming to Disneyland Resort July 18, 2020!
Read all about the new Marvel land coming to Disney California Adventure park in Summer of 2020.
Marvel at the Disneyland Resort has been full of rumors since 2009 when Disney bought Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion. Here’s where you can get the latest confirmed super hero happenings at Disneyland Resort.
Avengers Campus at Disneyland Resort
Disneyland Resort’s struggle with ways to incorporate the newly acquired heroes into their parks began in 2009, but it all comes together July 18, 2020 when Avengers Campus opens at California Adventure Park.
In years past, Captain America and other Marvel characters had short-term homes in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland and inside the short-lived Super Hero HQ.
In 2016, Marvel meet and greets were moved to California Adventure’s Hollywood Land and expanded once Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! arrived on the scene. Now, with Avengers Campus, a new land coming to Disneyland Resort in 2020, all things Marvel will remain.
Disney Marvel Land Opening Dates
Avengers Campus opens July 18, 2020.
Disneyland Resort Avengers Campus opens in phases, as has been the trend with Pixar Pier and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. While some fans want the full grand reveal all at once, I appreciate that we can experience parts of the new land and come back for more later. I feel it also does well to control crowd levels throughout the resort. What do you think?

Disney Avengers Campus Food
The first thing that many Marvel fans were excited to hear was the new food concept coming to Avengers Campus.
Avengers Campus Food
Pym Test Kitchen
Pym Test Kitchen features shareable bites and (hopefully massive) treats. One item I think will be super popular is the Impossible™ large and micro meatballs with pasta. Imagineers really had some fun with this one—if you look closely you can see it’s served in an oversized spoon, with one giant (non) meatball, and a “tiny” fork.
The “Pym-ini,” a panini served by the slice or as a long, multi-portion sandwich (perfect for families and groups) looks like another popular choice. This quick meal is served on toasted focaccia with salami, rosemary ham, provolone, sun-dried tomato mayonnaise and arugula with marinara dipping sauce.
Every food item at Pym Test Kitchen is labeled as an “experiment” and some food items have odd looks and colors, very similar to menu items at Docking Bay 7 in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Does odd looking food or colors appeal to you? I know my husband doesn’t like to eat things with un-natural food coloring, like it I do say green dye to enhance the color of Key Lime Pie.
This one takes it even a step further so I don’t think my kids will go for this, what about you?
The PB³ Superb Sandwich’s blue markings make it less appealing to me but the description has me eager to try it: peanut butter, banana, smoked bacon and strawberry jelly with a banana smoothie shot and crispy potato tots on the side.
I saved possibly the best one for last. This one really had me smiling when I first saw the picture released by Disney.
Not So Little Chicken Sandwich is an extra large fried chicken breast with teriyaki and red chili sauces, pickled cabbage slaw on a “tiny” bun served on a giant plate with crispy potato tots on the side. Which dish are you looking forward to the most so far?
Pym Tasting Lab
Pym Tasting Lab is set up inside an oversized beer can featuring craft beer and Pym Particle-infused cocktail and kid-friendly experiments. As in mocktails, not experiments done on actual children :). Some of their drinks can also be found at Pym Test Kitchen, so you’re never more than a few steps away from liquid refreshment.
Pictured above, is the Proton PB&J Punch with a lemonade base infused with flavors of strawberry and peanut butter. You had me until the peanut butter.
Also pictured above is Pingo Doce, the green beverage with ties to Bruce Banner aka The Hulk. Next, we’ve gathered a variety of craft beers ranging from… actually, I have no idea what I’m talking about here. As a non-drinker, I’ll just quote the official Disney press release and trust you know your drinks.
Disney adds, “craft beer ranging from a blood orange hefeweizen to an amber lager and more. Select adult beverages feature a variety of delicious ingredients, such as habanero and mango syrup, vanilla ice cream, lemon juice or cherry flavored pearls with an alcohol base of tequila, stout, gin or hard seltzer. From left to right, alcoholic beverages: X-Periment, Molecular Meltdown, Honey Buzz and Particle Fizz can be found at Pym Tasting Lab.”
Shawarma Food Cart
Shawarma Food Cart offers favorite shawarma-inspired snacks like pretzels and popcorn.
Terran Treats food cart near Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! features “weird and wonderful menu of intergalactic eats”. Again, let me know if you think your kids will eat something that looks like a brain.
I’m really going to have to move outside my comfort zone because I think this looks disgusting. But a crispy cream puff with whipped raspberry cheesecake mousse dubbed the “Cosmic Cream Orb” I am willing to give it a go. I just might have to close my eyes.
Disney Parks Blog adds,
Avengers Campus will also feature Pym Test Kitchen. Just as Ant-Man and The Wasp use “Pym Particles” to grow and shrink just about anything, Pym Technologies is using the latest innovations to grow and shrink food at this eatery!

Avengers Campus Merch
In the past, it’s the girly Disney Princesses that have all the fun, but with Avengers joining the Disney team, we’ve seen just how SUPER everyone can be at the Disneyland Resort.
Here’s a few of my favorite Super Hero merch to wear to Avengers Campus or have around the house when you need a super pick-me-up.
WEB Suppliers where you can build a custom remote control Spider-Bot with powers and styles from your favorite Super Heroes. It’s very reminiscent of Droid Depot at Galaxy’s Edge where you pick your parts and assemble a bot exactly to your specifications.
Campus Supply Pod
Campus Supply Pod outfits you with official Avengers Campus gear, like hoodies and tees, hats and more.
Disneyland Marvel History
Summer of Heroes event ended in 2017 this section is no longer being updated but remains here for a peek into the past. May 27 through September 10, 2017 “Summer of Heroes” will run at California Adventure. Here’s what to expect during “Summer of Heroes”.
- May 27th Grand Opening of Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout. Grab a FASTPASS first thing in the morning; we expect FASTPASSES to run out during the first few weeks (or months) of the new attraction’s opening.
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off! – it’s a boom-box style rock ‘n roll party in the often underused area of Hollywood Land that once hosted the popular Mad T. Party dance party.
- Marvel character encounters including Star-Lord, Black Widow, Spider-Man, Hawkeye or Captain America.
- Avengers Training Initiative – Black Widow and Hawkeye assemble young recruits for a series of tests to see if they have what it takes to join the ranks of the Avengers. We expect this to be similar to Jedi Training with an Avengers twist.
